Filter Schedule By Family & Type
Please add the ability to filter a schedule by Family, Family&Type or by Type this would eneble us to produce flashing shedules similar to the attached image. Each sketch would be a legend and the surounding fields are the properties for that type.
Another vote for the obvious. Another shake your head - again and again - every time hoping that this has been resolved in the next iteration of Revit.
Autodesk, please take a cue from Adobe. Adobe for many years had many small bugs and missing capabilities that had frustrated users for years. Finally, several years ago, they set aside time for their software engineers to fix these. They called the initiative "Just Do It!"
Isn't this easily doable through a rational use of the existing Type Mark parameter?
It was always my understanding that family and type names were just for naming families, whereas mark and type mark were meant to be the proper identifying parameters?
We (try) to insist on this for scheduling. Types can be named all sorts of things to help find them when modelling... but the Type Mark should be correctly labelled. E.g a window type may be named Type W1A - 685x1050 Bathroom window to help find the correct window in the family browser, but the Type Mark would just be W1A allowing us to schedule/filter, etc based on the actual window type reference.
@awasyliw Yes, the Type Marks (or other parameters) are generally what's used for on-sheet documentation (for example, we have a "KAI Name" parameter with contents that are often very similar to the Type Name - especially for steel families), however, many schedules are created for QC and/or modeling purposes. Having to copy information into a parameter just for a "throwaway" schedule is not always practical, and trying to find commonalities between Type Marks, even those from the same Family, is sometimes impossible (though OR filters can help with that, such a solution is still more fragile than just filtering by the parameter that you WANT to use)...
@sasha.crotty it's been 4 years. What's the status on this? It's a serious omission that the user based community is obviously frustrated with. Any updates on when we can expect this?
@seijord1 Yes, this was Implemented in Revit 2022. There was a glitch in our forums that accidentally changed the statuses a few months ago. Sorry for the confusion!
@Studioearl It was implemented in Revit 2022. If you don't like the WAY it was implemented, you'll have to make a new idea (and I suggest linking to it here to garner more support).
