Filter schedule by elements visible on same sheet

Filter schedule by elements visible on same sheet

It would be great to be able to set a schedule so that when placed on a sheet it was filtered to only show elements visible on the sheet, similar to the way a color fill legend can automatically filter itself to the view it's placed on.

This would be of great use for schedules of room/space data, equipment data etc. etc.

It would need to be a dynamic filter so that the same schedule could be placed onto multiple sheets, with each showing different elements.

As in like how keynotes already work, absolutely!  That would be this missing link.

So if there was an extra filter for schedules, "tagged items only" we would be there right?

@Mark_Engwirda  exactly, that closes the gap.

The Dynamo (or an API) pushes the sheet numbers the element is tagged in, into a parameter, then  schedules use "Contains" i.e. "AE01" to filter by sheet. Easier if Revit contains this on the back end though so it is fully automatic and fast.

Particularly useful when using multi category tags and schedules. Taking it a little further "tagged by" and "On sheet" in the event you have different tags in different scenarios, I.e. manufacturer/model or DataID and TypeDescription.

if we could only Schedule the items on sheet

that are tagged...

Yes! This is the last piece.

I can imagine that that would be a game changer for a lot of people, but
maybe too ambitious for Revit implementation ??
Would love to see what you come up with in Dynamo in the meantime.

@WM_Ron_Allen I'm sure you'll need to create a new idea for that (& post the link here) as Autodesk will be ignoring this discussion now that they've "checked it off their list"...

Also, Autodesk missed another gap by not including the checkbox in the corresponding View Template dialog: Filter by Sheet in Schedule View Template (see my comment there).

And my similar idea for View Filters & Sections: Filter View by Sections visible on same Sheet
