I have voted for a variety of ideas on this forum to do with nested View Templates. This suggestion is an alternative way of handling the issue.
I suggest we have:
* File Linking Styles,
* View Linking Styles,
* The ability to apply these in views and inside View Templates, and
* The ability to override a single link within a View Linking Style.
FILE LINKING STYLES:
--------------------
For each link in the model, allow user to define one or more Styles for the way this link is viewed. eg.
Elec Style 1 = By Linked View x.
Elec Style 2 = By Linked View y.
Elec Style 3 = By Custom a.
Elec Style 4 = By Custom b.
Mech Style 1 = By Linked View z.
VIEW LINKING STYLES:
--------------------
Allow user to define a named Style containing a File Linking Style for each of the links in the model. eg.
Plan View Linking Style 1 = Elec Style 1 + Mech Style 1 + Stru Style 2 + Plumb Style 3
Plan View Linking Style 2 = Elec Style 2 + Mech Style 3 + Stru Off + Plumb Off
VIEW TEMPLATE MODIFICATIONS:
----------------------------
The View Template dialog box then allows users to:
1. Define a selected View Linking Style, and
2. Allow to override individual File Linking Styles within the View Linking Style with other File Linking Styles, while keeping the non-overridden styles driven by the View Linking Syyle.
VG MOFIFICATIONS:
-----------------
The ability to Include or Exclude individual Parameters from the controlling View Template on a by-view basis.
These new features would make it so much easier to define consistent drawing appearances across numerous view in a project.
Please consider. Thankyou.
