- you're going to pitch different disciplines against eachother ("why should an architect care about the electrical tools")
- you're going to pitch different regions against eachother ("why should I care about UK code compliance")
- people might vote against something just because they feel it MIGHT get badly implemented (great example is: "place view on multiple sheets"... some fear that it might brake the view referencing system but that's not necessarily true and can be worked out during implementation)
Agree with @pieter1 here, I also believe that this will result in distorting the actual requirements/needs of users, mainly due to a lack of understanding.
The comments are here for this purpose as this thread somewhat ironically demonstrates
What would be far more valuable is to vote for comments (which to some extent would achieve the same result) I could have simply up-voted @Anonymous 's comment rather than writing my own but that's another thread (which has apparently been "in the works" for nearly 3 years ).
And ultimately it won't matter, as votes are only a guideline to assist the project managers. The dev team cannot be constrained purely by voting for various reasons e.g. variations on the "Make a native Mac OS version" may be quite high in the vote ranking but the amount of effort necessary would put a stop to all other work for some time, which wouldn't be appreciated.
what you find unwanted , others see as missing we are from different countries and different systems in work each group of users have their requirements and need Revit to meet them you can't vote against someone because you don't need that
This is a terrible idea. Something that one group of users needs would be voted down by another larger group, regardless of it's merits. The system employed by AUGI is a little more democratic, by allowing varying levels of support for different ideas, but I think this Autodesk forum has a pretty good setup already. If users take the time to vote, they just vote for the items they believe are useful. That's it.
