It would be incredibly useful if Revit allowed users to create detailing views (sections, elevations, callouts) and even sheets inside families. These views would include dimensions, notes, and annotations, so when the family is loaded into a project, all necessary details are already set up.
Currently, if a project requires detailed documentation of multiple family types (e.g., different window sizes or furniture configurations), users have to manually create sheets, views, and schedules for each type, adding dimensions and annotations repeatedly. This is time-consuming and redundant.
With this feature, users could:
- Define detail views inside the family itself.
- Automatically generate sheets with pre-configured annotations when the family is loaded into a project.
- Include predefined schedules that adapt to the family’s parameters.
- Maintain consistency across projects without recreating views and schedules for each instance.
- Easily export these detailed views and schedules for documentation.
This would significantly streamline the documentation process, especially for projects with repetitive custom elements.
