Displacement Sets - Improve

Displacement Sets - Improve

The Displacement set is great to do exploded axonometrics, but it is quite limited. I suggest adding the following features:

  • Allow Rotation of elements, not just translation
  • Allow displacement on 3D Views, not just 3D views
  • Allow displaced elements to be dimensioned

Technology is moving in a way where architecture is beginning to move. I mean, even the Amish people have very complex furniture that requires assembly and is made to be moved in complex ways once it is built.

That is not to mention automated furniture makers like ORI who make furniture that moves with motors.

To fully document assembly and moving furniture concept,s we need better Displacement Set features.

Some of these ideas already exist, I've just added my own and put them all together.

This feature was implemented in Revit 2023. Thank you for your contribution to improving Revit!

I have a legacy project in Revit 2019 that is impractical to upgrade. I want to create a displacement set to make an exploded view and the tool is grayed out. Apparently, you can't do this when constraints are applied. If it's not really moving the families in 3D, why does this matter? I can't find any constraints to remove.

I've successfully created this type of view 3 of the 4 times I need it, but 1 view is proving problematic. It just doesn't make any sense (as is often the case)

Accidental discovery, perhaps, but it seems that a Section Box needs to be visible for the Displace Element tool to work - at least in this Revit 2019 file.
