Dependent views to match crop region of parent view

Dependent views to match crop region of parent view

We use dependent views to place small versions of the plans and elevations on every sheet.  This leads to 20+ dependent views for each plan and elevation.  When the scope of a project grows, we then have to edit the crop region of every single dependent view.  There should be an option to have dependent views match the crop region of the parent view.

Why don't you just select them all and change them all at once using SCOPE BOXES in pre property window (I assume you are using those, and if you are not, then that would be what I would use just for this)?? (Harder would be to edit the position of all these views in every sheet they are at... (though more easy in recent revit versions I think).

One of the main porposes of dependent views is actually to use diferent scope boxes for each dependent view... So not really like you are using or project organization...

If I'm getting anything wrong, please correct me.

Hello, I would love to use scope boxes, but Autodesk disabled the ability to use scope boxes on dependent elevation and section views in 2023 (they still work on dependent plan views though).  I like to use dependent views because if I want to add any annotation details to these views, then I only have to add them in the parent view and all the dependent views are automatically updated.

And yes, keeping the positions consistent on all the sheets is made easier using the new "Saved Positions" tool.

I just need the ability to make the crop region dependent on the parent view (kind of like we have the ability to do that with the view depth on callouts in sections and elevations)
