Control a linked model's design options on a project level instead of by each view.
Currently when I select a copy of a linked model I can set the Name and Workset of that copy in the Properties panel. I want to be able to control the Design Option of the selected copy of the linked model in the Properties panel. From the Properties panel, similar to the RVT Link Display Settings Design Options tab, I can chose which design option for that copy of the linked model.
The Manage Links dialog could be similar to the Revit Links tab under Visibility/Graphic. I can see a list of linked models and in the drop down a list of the copies of that linked model.
Once it is set at the project level the link copy would show the selected design option in all views. If I cut a new section, plan, elevation..... the copy would already be assigned the design option in that view.
I want to use this for multiple copies of the same linked model on a campus.
For instance:
- In my model I have a building that is a copy is a link of "My Linked Model.rvt". I select the copy and in the Properties panel I name it "Building 1". In the same panel I set the design option for this copy as "B". Then the copy "Building 1" shows in all views as design option B.
- I have another copy of the linked model named "Building 2". I set the design option for this copy as "C - no windows". The copy "Building 2" shows the design option "C - no windows" in all views.
- If I make a new site plan one linked model copy looks like "B" and the other looks like "C - no windows".
- If I need to change I got to the Manage Links dialog. Under the Link Name I can select the copy of that linked model and edit the design option for that copy.
Very similar to RVT Link Display Settings tab Design Options but project wide.
I don't want to set it in every single view and or every single view template.
