Categories representation (Overall)

Categories representation (Overall)

All categories should have equal options as regards cut line/patterns and surfacepatterns. Furthermore, when in a plan or ceiling view, it should be the iew responsible for cutting geometry not settings in the familys view properties and not to differ at random between categories making many obvious categories useless. This should be default behaviour to allways see what is expected to be seen,

There could then be a checkmark option to override a specific families cutplane, in case that is needed, for some reason, or maybe a viewspecific checkmark (like attacheddetailgroups, which is all so is another topic) so you could select an element in view and choose to use a overridein its visibility, just an idea..the main functionallity is more important.

To summarize:

In normal plan view:

 - If geometri is cut by cut plane, the geometry should appear cut.

- If geometry is below cut plane, but above Bottom, geometry should show surfacepattern

- If geometry is above cut plane, not visible.

In ceiling plan view:

 - If geometri is cut by cut plane, the geometry should appear cut.

- If geometry is below cut plane, not visible.

- If geometry is above cut plane, but above Bottom, geometry should show surfacepattern

I can see why there are some View Range exceptions (such as cabinets above), but there are just too many, and some are dumb. Related ideas:

@lionel.kai Agreed, as to cabinets above -> I would still think as and overall that the view range in the projectview should determine. What i do, if i have things above cut plane that i want visible, i simply make modelline i the want height, usually put in a signatur subcategory so i can on of on will on different viewtemplates.
