Cased Openings, which are often built as door families, should have the ability to chose whether or not they are room bounding. Doors and wall opening families in general should give the option to not be room bounding. While I'm aware that it's possible to schedule multiple rooms together as if they are one, being able to allow a room object to pass through an opening is ideal when both spaces are considered part of the same room. The only work around that I'm aware of involves cutting the wall that hosts the opening and only making that segment non-room bounding, which is far from ideal.
