CAD Export Settings

You cannot use "transfer project settings" in order to copy over CAD Export settings, nor can you export your settings to a file that someone else can import...  There needs to be a easy means of copying CAD export settings from another file or sending these settings to a consultant.

There is a way. I can honestly say that I do not know how to export my Export Settings, but you can import settings. You can format a .txt file similar to that of the Shared Parameter file, and establish your layers, colors, etc. and import that setting in.

But, this should just prove as a point that Autodesk needs to document this workflow better. I believe the import option is "Import Layer from Standards" where you can browse to this file.

As long as you have *named* DWG/DXF/DGN Export Setups in a file, those *are* available in "Transfer Project Standards".  It just doesn't work with the default "<in-session export setup>", and you won't even see those line items until valid named settings actually exist to transfer.

Our civil engineer uses a preposterous number of files and layers, literally thousands of layers. There are way too many things that can obliterate a view template, including user error of course, but also things like migration to the cloud failing (which just happened to us). It would be very helpful to be able to export and save a layer setup from a view template. As it currently stands our only option to recreate the view template is to open the pre-cloud version of the model and then do dozens of screenshots like the attached. This is extremely time consuming and there must be a better way.
