Bind Revit Link - Maintain Phases

Bind Revit Link - Maintain Phases

This idea was archived in September

Reviving it & hope it gets more love this time around!

As we are doing more and more work on our older Revit models, we really need this option.

When binding a Revit link it would be extremely helpful to have a "Maintain Phases" check box. This would also require a Phase Mapping dialog like we currently have in Type Properties for Revit Links. I guess this could just be a link to that dialog as the Bind command is working on a link.

Currently all phasing is mapped to the phase of the current view during the bind operation, which makes for big problems - especially for items that were set to be demolished.

It would be very helpful to maintain phase mapping of objects when binding a link.

Currently, bound objects become a group in whatever phase they are bound in. This necessitates

resetting their phase values and can add a great deal of complication when coordinating linked models- especially if you've got any demolition to document.

If the settings in the phase mapping dialogue could be maintained while linking, it could save a lot of headaches in coordination.

I was in awe realizing this wasn't a function. It was almost common sense to me that it should be. Why allow me to map the phases of the link, but not maintain that while binding that same link???

Hello all,

Please make it as the priority, we need phasing as well as the worksets made in the link file and elements distributed according to those created worksets to "remain same" after binding into one big model.

Rao.

This is definitely needed.  We frequently have projects that start up, then go on hold for extended periods, only to be revived years later.  In some cases, we want to take advantage of improvements made to our own templates; in others we are working for a client that mandates use of their templates, and we need to use the latest one, not the one in which the models were started.

In the latter case, we often do not have a list of the changes made, so starting new models from the current template and then getting the old project work into the new files is necessary, and preferably in an expeditious manner.  If there is phasing involved (there almost always is), it is a royal pain to have everything bind into one phase and then have to move things back.  Doubly so for Rooms, since you cannot select a Room and change its phase in the Properties palette.  You have to cut the Room to the clipboard, and then paste it in a View set to the correct phase, and then delete the Room in the wrong phase in a Room Schedule.

While you are at it, respecting assigned Worksets would also be nice to have.

For the sake of all our sanity PLEASE sort this out.

It's 2022 now and whilst links have the ability to map phasing, binding still cannot use this information to correctly phase bound elements.

There is almost no situation you would want to bind a linked model without the phasing information.

This should be a priority.

Needed this today.

Not happy to discover this was not a built-in provision.

This function is required. Autodesk should consider this function to updated in next release.

This function would be very helpful for maintaining building files when you have multiple tenants.

Needed this today again for the hundredth time. It would be so helpful to bind when migrating from a master plan to an actual project.
