Bind images as ole in dwg file

Bind images as ole in dwg file

Hello there, a few months ago Diroots solved an issue that We have been requesting and are still wating from Autodesk.

I wonder why Developers or Autodesk colaborators do not give us a response for this need?

We need to Bind images as ole in dwg file when exporting from Revit.

It is not a ideal way to deliver DWG files with a lot of refernced images.

If the same image is placed in many sheets, it will appear many times in the dwg file folder.

Please take our idea and consider it!

@kimberly_fuhrman-jones, this idea needs to be merged with https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/auto-bind-images-to-cad-when-export-layout-from-revit/idi...

@andersonreyesortiz, please try to remember to search for an existing idea before posting a new one.  I was able to find this other idea within seconds with a search of "bind image file to export dwg"

Autodesk should consider an alternative solution: Users should convert their logos into scalable vector graphics .svg files, load the svg files into the revit project, and Revit should convert the svg into Autocad lines or polylines upon export. Bitmap logos should be banned from the whole internet forever.

@victor_vijeuKD42L While I think that https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/adding-support-for-import-svg-graphics/idi-p/7938607 should have more votes than it currently does, we cannot influence our clients, project leads or whoever forces us to use images when exporting to DWG. Neither is every image file appropriate to be converted to vector graphics. I admit that forcing users to do conversion work for Revit does sound familiar.

@MiWolff My dilemma is very simple: Are we engineers using vector drawings and vector calculus, or are we painters/photographers using bitmap images? Bitmaps are useful for Decals and restoration projects. I use svg logos in all my documents : docx, xlsx, etc. Looks more professional when i scale it up.

@victor_vijeuKD42L i did this for our revit logos. The problem is that revit has the 1/32" size limitation. Being limited to lines larger than 1/32" required our logo to be modified to work and not all logos can be converted as @MiWolff stated.
