[Autodesk Cloud Parameter Service] Select parameter from list

[Autodesk Cloud Parameter Service] Select parameter from list

When uploading parameters to the Autodesk Cloud Parameter Service today, users have no way to choose which parameters to transfer when selecting 'active model'. Instead, they must resort to work-arounds:

  1. Clean the model. Strip out every unwanted parameter so that only the ones you want remain, then upload.

  2. Use a Shared Parameter file. But this sacrifices the convenience of the “Active Model” option (see red rectangle in screenshot).

Proposed Workflow

  1. Upload to Cloud Parameter Service

  2. User selects Active Model (or Shared Parameter File / Text-File Import).
  3. Ask user for confirmation to get all parameters from the model

  4. Display a multi-select list of all shared parameters in the model.

  5. Adjust Categories

    • Give the user the option to change the applied categories for each shared parameter (for example to add revit categories which become available in new revit versions.

    • Give the user the option to change standard categories in the properties menu, like Identity Data, Underlay, Graphics, etc.

  6. Final Confirmation from the user to transfer the shared parameters to the Cloud Parameter Service

Steps 4–6 would also be useful when importing from a Shared Parameter file, as this format has no category-and-property metadata. (Or add an extra option to the import method where the user can select a textfile with the extra data (like category-and-property metadata)

Can you clarify a few things

Once you have loaded the parameters from an RVT to the Parameters Service what tools/capabilities are missing to clean up within the Parameters Service UI?

Specifically, both of these is supported as fields which can be edited directly within the Parameters Service, are their gaps or issues in how the abilities currently function?

  • Give the user the option to change the applied categories for each shared parameter (for example to add revit categories which become available in new revit versions.

  • Give the user the option to change standard categories in the properties menu, like Identity Data, Underlay, Graphics, etc.

More clarified workflow:

This will include 15 parameters. Do you wish to continue?”

[Cancel]  [Yes, Fetch Parameters]

4. Display & Multi-Select List

Dialog: “Select which shared parameters to sync”
(Multi-select checkboxes)

SP_FinishMaterialWalls; Floors▾ [Walls, Floors] Ceilings ☐ Roofs ☐ …

*Make it possible to create groups of families by standard, so that the user can select a group and these categories will be applied. For example groupname [MEP-01] with categories ['Pipe Accessories, Duct Accessories, Air Terminals']

5.2 Change Standard Property Categories

Dialog: “Assign each parameter to a properties group”
