Alternate view mode : black&white versus color

I would like something like Model tab versus Layout tab (Autocad-style) in Revit. Most times i don't work with lineweights and black&white mode. I do my designs in color-mode, which it's much easier to visually manage things. I use black&white and lineweights mostly for printing purposes.

It's very hard to manage rebar diameters and other small parts just by lineweights on a white background. Color-mode by diameter or by mark would help a lot. I don't want to set it up manually in every project. I'm looking for some automatic legend like architectural surfaces legend does.

You should be able to accomplish what you want by using View Filters.

I doubt that you'll ever see this as a standard Revit feature because everyone is going to have different ideas about how to use colors

@dplumb_BWBR : I'm not trying to filter out specific elements. I'm trying to map out (by color) entire rebar groups and rebar partitions.

Why architectural rooms and areas can be mapped out by color and structural elements cannnot? Why do we have so many structural menus in Revit and yet we have no real productivity tools for structure? Why concrete elements cannot by colored by type and by section just like architectural rooms can be colored by surface and by area size?
