Summary of the Issue: In Revit, linked models are treated as a single instance when it comes to workset assignments, meaning that all instances of a linked model share the same workset. This is a limitation, as users cannot assign different worksets to individual instances or copies of a linked model.
How This Affects My Workflow: Currently, when working with multiple copies of a linked model (e.g., floors, zones, or different areas of a project), it is not possible to assign different worksets to these separate instances. As a result, the visibility and management of these linked models become difficult, especially in large projects where different areas require different workset controls for visibility or management.
This limitation forces us to either:
Duplicate the linked model file to assign a unique workset (which can be inefficient and create file management challenges).
Or, we must work around the visibility issues by relying on other methods like view filters or parameters, but this doesn't solve the core problem of managing individual instances of a linked model via worksets.
Proposed Solution: Allow Revit users to assign different worksets to individual instances or copies of a linked model. This would enable more granular control over the visibility and management of linked models in large projects without the need for file duplication or complex workarounds.
Why This Feature is Important:
It would streamline workflows in projects with multiple linked models or repeated model instances (e.g., multi-floor buildings, zones, or modular designs).
It would enhance project management, especially in cases where visibility and access need to be controlled on a per-instance basis.
This change would reduce the need for duplicated files and enable more flexible workset management, making it easier to work in large collaborative teams.
