Allow all characters to be used in view names
Being able to use punctuation and various brackets for view naming conventions would be very helpful. Please allow for all characters to be used in view names []{}|: etc.
Allowing these characters could cause issues with API's and other that use these characters to parse strings etc., especially : which already forms part of the Revit name.
I get that. I was a software developer for 15 years. Still, it’s a problem that is well understood and solved already. For example, views could have an internal name, which gets used for generating file names and a display name that is only shown in the project browser. Parsing strings is not a problem.
Thanks for taking the time to submit your idea. Unfortunately, this idea did not get the support of the community over the last 6 months and as such we will not be pursuing it at this time. Please feel free to rework (titles and clear descriptions are really important) and resubmit this one down the road.
