Add filter for subcategories

Add filter for subcategories

This request comes in many different shapes, everyone want to filter subcategories of some particular category in Revit, and so far that is Totally impossible.

I wanted to be able to hide (all but x) interior edges of floors. (So far I need to draw all the one I want to see by hand)

Here are some other examples for other categories:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/separate-v-g-categories-for-structural-and-non-structural...

There are many more... Please implement this fast.

Add another level to the selection filter.

Currently it’s by category. It would be nice to have the ability to expand the category with things that are in the properties - such as comments. Or maybe even subcategories

It would be nice if Using the Properties dialog drop down to filter the properties being changed also filtered the selection.

Do you mean something like the below image?

CADD Microsystems developed the FilterPLUS add-in which is available for download through CADD Community.

Nick - That is great! Just add a part that reads if comments exist! Is that possible in the Revit API?

EPSUpdates - While I do not do the programming, I will add this to the wishlist.

Pleassssse.  Subcategories aren't nearly as useful they pretend to be without being able to filter them.   I have seen "answers" where people just use embedded families and the like to help control things and that is a painful workaround.

Pleaaaaaase.

Let us select and filter elements by its parameters, not only the categories.

Hi,

When you select multiple elements and press the Filter selection icon:

You get this window which list all the selected object by category.

My idea is to add more options to get more quickly to the elements you where looking for.

1. Add an option to Check/Uncheck annotation Which allow you to remove many check marks quickly

2. Add more option to arrange and  the results such as: Links&imported elements/System (MEP) and so on

Must needed. Something similar to Quick Select in AutoCAD.

Seconded, QSELECT is the single feature I miss most from AutoCAD, and there is no reason Revit should not have a similar feature.  The selection filters are a poor substitution for tasks such as "removing all walls demolished=phase 1 from the current selection."  This would be especially useful when paired with the "select all in view/project" feature.

I am creating view filters to control visibility of elements with specific project parameter values.  I can add a project parameter to sub-categories such as roof soffits and wall sweeps but I cannot include those subcategories in my filters.

Solution:  Add ability to control all categories AND sub-categories in filters.  If you can apply a parameter to it, it should be filter-able.
