Add detail call-out bubbles into legends

Add detail call-out bubbles into legends

Add the ability to add call-out/section bubbles into a legend.  Need to add them to our window and door frame type legend.

Isn't that possible already?  Just drag the family into the legend.

Not possible. Try to add a view callout or section cut into a legend. There are a few work arounds but adding one directly into the legend would be less hassle.

Can you share a picture?  I can add a callout head and a section head. Do you want the other graphics like the section line and the callout bubble linework with it?

dbroad, you may be thinking I am requesting a 'how to' on creating a symbol legend which I am not.

I see.  I gave up on legends for that documentation. I use elevations instead.  See picture, with section cuts that relate.2023-09-28_16-26-08.jpg

I've used that method before and the issue is you then create elevation tags in your plan views that you don't want to see in your plot sheets. You can create a filter to turn them off but your making more work for yourself. The work around I use now is create a drafting view that includes callouts and drag/drop it over the top of the legend on the plot sheet.

I've upvoted this cos I agree with your point (and would go further and say we need to be able to draw walls and floors and assign materials in legends - essentially we need a 3D environment that's not in the model, where anything drawn won't schedule or affect any model views).

Our current workaround for this is to set up a documentation area off to one side of the model and also "documentation" and "documentation demolition" phases that go in before the "existing" phase of the project.
