ABILITY TO RENUMBER / REORDER USER CREATED KEYNOTES

ABILITY TO RENUMBER / REORDER USER CREATED KEYNOTES

This is an important enhancement request.  It seems like a really simple idea.

FEATURE REQUEST:

- The ability to change the keynote number for user created keynotes.

Currently:

- Keynotes number themselves per sheet (when that option selected) based on the CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER in which they were placed.   This would be similar to the way views initially number themselves when you place them on sheets.  Gridlines also perform this way.

- Sometimes you add a new item to model and want the keynotes associated with it to be numbered / grouped closely together in a logical sequence.  This is not possible.  Any new keynote will go at the bottom of the current keynote list.

Request:

- The ability to manually change the numbering of user created keynotes on a sheet

- This features is available for viewports (you can renumber your views if you move them around or delete and replace a view with another).

- This feature is available for gridlines (you can change the # / letter of your gridlines when you move them around or add new gridlines in between).

This would be very useful.  THANKS.

This is a good idea. Very similar to a post a few years ago.  https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/user-keynote-order-on-sheets/idc-p/9104837

I need this very thing and hope it gets implemented.

Any updates to this request?

I vote for the request as well.

How many votes needed to start implementing?

Yes please!  This would be so helpful!

Some way to access the numbers and be able to drag them to the order that you'd like.  I have a project that is 4 cabins with the same keynotes and I make one modification to one cabin, it gets all the keynotes out of order and takes so much extra time to check them all.

Thanks for your consideration!

There are a lot of simple things like this that Autodesk needs to improve for Revit. It looks like the people creating the software have never used it in real life.

I am going to see if I can write a script to go through and save all of the keynotes on a view/sheet and then order them by the keynote number and then re-create them in the proper order.  not sure if it is possible, but was going to give it a try when I got a minute.

Five years later and this is still an issue? Has anyone found a viable work around?

You can schedule the keynotes and then use a family or combined multicategory schedule in 23 and 24 and filter by visibility in view to specify a (alpha)numeric type mark. This captures all elements in the view(s) on the sheet whether tagged or not. Otherwise there is no ability to add a parameter visible on the keynote schedule or a fixed parameter associated to the keynote of the object being tagged without ruining the CSI implementation and ust using a (alpha)numeric number and note. Unless you have a rock-solid numbering system for your notes by discipline and by category~ you'll end up with inconsistent notes that have less than nothing to do with specifications.
