Revit - Angled Corner Mullion for Curtain Walls and Systems

Revit - Angled Corner Mullion for Curtain Walls and Systems

We need the most commonly used corner mullion condition that occurs in buildings which is a mullion that is angled at the corner.  This mullion will be set at 45 degrees to the corner at a 90 degree outside corner and at 135 degrees to the corner at 90 degree inside corner.  This mullion should be adaptable to other wall corner angles.  Please see attached image.

+ We also need an option to just place a 'normal' mullion on the corner (but rotated so it makes the connection between the two angles). This is important for situations where the corner is not acute.fixed.JPG

We're now up to 2019 Revit and yet the corner mullions OOTB seem to be stuck in 70's corporate architecture.

I need exactly what the original poster is asking for - it's what we use on almost every project - as do most firms around town.

Currently the work-around is a generic model which is hardly acceptable. Surely this upgrade could be achieved?

Please add a chevron corner mullion type, and while your at it allow curtain panels to extend past the mullion if they don't intersect.  With a system panel and a system panel, if the mullion is behind the panel, it allows it to continue past.  However, as soon as you create a "custom mullion profile" using a rectangular mullion, it no longer continues past.

Could we have automatic 45 degrees corner mullions?

Guys,

I did not notice but this idea was already posted: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/revit-angled-corner-mullion-for-curtain-walls-and-systems...

Let's concentrate our votes there.

This is a very good idea and should be complemented by this one: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/curtain-wall-corner/idi-p/6413011

@msarqui: Workaround until this feature will come:

Make two new profiles for the mullion. One of the left half of the 45°-Mullion and one of the right half of the Mullion.

In the preject make a new Mullion "lefthand45" with the profil left, and a Mullion "righthand45" with the right Profile.

Have a look:

I would not ask for 45° mullion, just "bisector"  mullion so one would fit all angles like the V mullions do.

Workaround like Bernhard's is fine for sketching or concept models but when you need real BIM models that can be used for quantity take offs or to generate cutting lists... it won't 😉

This workaround is still also not deal with the ability to make 45° "bissector" mullion ends around the panels at vertical & horizontal grid intersections !Revit Idea_45degrees corner mullion.png

It is possible to do an exterior corner at 45 degrees, but it bugs our for interior corners.

Furthermore, the exterior corners never joins properly and we need to disable join and fix them manually. For partial solution and bug documentation, see this post, message 6.

Since Revit is unable to do basic mullions properly and automatically, we have to do each corner manually and use generic models do interior corners. This is not a good solution and we are surprised that something so basic and common has not been addressed and resolved yet.

Please add curtain Wall corner mullions editable. Or add angles parameters. Or add rectangular angle Mulllion

Hi @_Vijay

Yes, Curtain Wall Mullions are at all not very handy for me at least.

I would like to have the abbility to use the Mullion them self as a Shared Family, to be able to create longer and shorter Mullions.
it is importend that the mullion is ongoing and not cutted down by the reference-lines on the curtain. I would like to get the over all lenght an total value of the mullions also

Shockingly missing

Much needed feature, also the system panels should follow the curtain wall profile geometry!
This will make it so much better, and will avoid making all the custom families!Capture revit.PNG

Same as cprice said. Also should have angled option at the rear (instead of flat)

Create a mullion profile so that the Center F/B Ref Plane cuts through the stem, not the body of the mullion.

Glass panels will extend in to that point of intersection. @acurraj
