Missing Annotation Text on Printed PDF Set

I'm using Revit 2017, and I've noticed that when I print a PDF (multiple pages) set there are missing annotation text.

They appear in my sheet window in Revit, but for some reason don't appear on the PDF set. Not all my sheets are affected, but only various ones. When I retry to print sometimes the sheets affected with missing annotations differ from the previous set I made, so it seems random.

I think I've narrowed it down to only my "WALL" annotations being affected...... For instance when using a "Wall Mark" annotation, GB-1 (for grade beams) or MW-1 (for masonry walls). On the printed PDF set all these grade beam, masonry wall, etc, annotations are missing from various sheets.

Any one else having this issue with any remedies?

Thank you for your post.  It looks like you are printing from Revit 2017 and are seeing some discrepancies in the plot outputs, and inconsistencies.  Do I understand this correctly?

In this case, this can typically be attributed to two things; the plot driver used (translation of annotation and objects) or miscommunication within the model (corruption, problem object, sheet, or style).  To overcome this have you tested plotting to a generic plot driver to compare the overall results?  I have listed a common test driver we use in support (CutePDF).

CutePDF: http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp

Additionally, if you can upload a sample copy of this model, I would be happy to test on this end to see if there are any traces of miscommunication or corruption with the model contributing to this ill behavior.  Please keep us posted and let us know how we can best help.  Thank you and we look forward to your reply.

Yes, I've tried using CutePDF with the same result of missing annotations. It occurs on all projects using REvit 2017.

I've attached a Revit 2017 sample model, and a PDF of how the plot turns out. You will notice that my wall tags are missing in the attached PDF.. (MW-1 at interior walls).

Thank you for your patience while I tested this further with the supplied revit model.  In this case I have tested the model and PDF creation with your wall tags, specifically focusing on your third floor plan to compare the tags visible in your RVT and the pdf you attached.  In this case, I was able to successful print to PDF using they CutePDF driver each time without fail.  I have created a video to illustrate this for reference below.  Please review and confirm the driver used for this translation of data from RVT to the final output of PDF.  For reference the second link is the free download for Cute PDF to test and compare overall results.  Please keep us posted in the community.  Thank you and we look forward to your reply to best help wherever possible and applicable in this post moving forward.

Thank you for testing this out, but my issue is for creating a multi pate pdf using "Selected Views/Sheets" under Print Range in the printing window. It's a huge pain when printing 10+ sheets individually then having to combine them, rather than using the selected views option.

It's fine when i make a single page pdf with Adobe and Cute, but I am having this issue when i make a multi-page pdf with both Adobe PDF as well as CutePDF. The weird thing is that the odd time it plots as it should without missing annotations, but most of the time it doesn't. I think it may depend on which sheet a start the plot on/view the plot preview, prior to printing?

I am also experiencing this same issue with three different users in our office. Annotation tags will randomly not print on sets. It does not happen every time. I hope Autodesk understands this is a very serious problem, it can be the cause of litigation. We are using Bluebeam and Adobe pdf drivers.

This problem is currently occurring with wall tags and user keyed notes, the example below shows the wall tags

I agree completely @derekchristensen. Before I realized this issue was occurring I had a couple projects come back to bite me because of wall tags not showing up in the printed PDF sets we issued. This version of Revit has been the worst I've personally experienced.

This happened to a very large project my office was working on as well and we didn't realize it until the middle of the bidding period.  We had to go sheet by sheet for almost 100 sheets and compare the printed sheet to our Revit model.  We were intermittently missing key notes attached to wall families as well as partition type tags. Not good.  Hopefully service pack 1 fixed the issue, but now I'm suspicious of everything I print.

I also just discovered that this also applies to "spot elevations" on any walls. I noticed my elevation marks annotated in my sections and elevation details where not showing up in my plotted sheets.... Another headache to deal with, so a warning for anyone dealing with this to unfortunately have to double and triple check plotted sheets.

This is also happening to me if I print to PDF or Print a Hard copy to submit to building official. I just have to keep printing until they show up magically.

I am having the same problem, has anybody figured out a solution for this? I do not have time to individually make PDFS in a 400 sheet set.

The issue doesn't happen when plotting to PDF individually only with the selected views/sheets trying to do multiple sheets at once. I have done 5 at a time with no issue and for some reason more than 10 and it fails.

The short answer from me is no, I have not found a solution but I also haven't heard complaining from the staff in the last month or so...

Are you running Revit 2017 with Service pack 2?

Still no solution, other than the single page plot workaround as you've noted...

I'm having the same problem with some text in my annotation families not showing up. I tried plotting single sheets but that didn't work for me as it did for others. I am using Bluebeam driver. I have all the current service packs downloaded for Revit 2017 and I haven't noticed this issue until this one project.
