Revit Server - Delete Cache Files from Accelerator

How do i permanently delete cache files from a local Revit Server?  Think of the scenario when we have a location that will never access the central files again and thus want to stop the AutoSynProcess to those locations.

Hi nbower,

Thank you for contributing to Autodesk Revit Answer Day!

You can find instructions on how to clear the local server cache so it does not reference the central file at the following link:

Thanks for the response.

I am referring to clearing local data on a Revit Server Accelerator in 2014, 2015 or 2016.  The link and accompanying info appears to reference 2013 and prior.  The file path that is contained in the provided does not existing in post 2013 RS environments.

Thank you for the clarification. I will continue to resarch and let you know if I find anything further, but in the meantime, the following link may be helpful in regards to the cache:

As porterja pointed to

"Deleting the unused project information through Windows Explorer in the cache should reduce the amount of information that Autosync is handling. If no one tries to access one of the unused project files through the Accelerator, Autosync shouldn't recreate the project information. "

The

  1. On the local servers, using Windows Explorer, navigate to the cached model folder. The default location is C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RevitServer 201#\Cache\
  2. Delete the cached model folder for the model that was replaced on the central server. Actually DELETE EVERYTHING in that folder, especially the db3 files that the Autosync process looks for.

Mine is organized a little differently. I have all my Revit Server Data in a separate folder and not the default location to manage it easily

\\gbbnrevit\c$\Revit Server Data

2014 -> Cache. Projects, TempRepository

2015

2016

Let me know if this is not the answer to your question

Thanks Nauman, hope things are well for you. I am hesitant to delete everything out including the db3 files because we typically have more than one file on a RS. That would create a situation where the entire cache would need to be rebuilt. That is not feasible with 2-3 hour open times to build the cache (which is ridiculous in its own right). I suppose I could go through and try to match the guid numbers up but that seems excessive. Not to mention if the db3 files are the things that trigger the auto sync process that won't work anyway.

Good to hear from you too Nick

Another option is to modify the database.

http://sqlitebrowser.org/

Delete the entries that  you do not need (well backup the orig db3. and also turn off the autosync first.

Also the other thing you can do it to quickly figure out which server which GUID is associated with and then delete the folders.

It gives you the GUID and the Server it is associated with.
