Revit Server, C4R, A360... what are the differences between them?

That's the question: what are the  differences between Revit Server, C4R and A360?

In which situations one can be better than the other solution? And what about licenses costs?

Hi Camilla,

Great questions. And welcome to the Revit Community Forum!

Revit Server (RS) is for server-based worksharing across a wide area network (WAN). See File-based Worksharing Versus Server-based Worksharing

Collaboration for Revit (C4R) is for server-based worksharing which is hosted in the cloud.  See About Collaboration for Revit

BIM 360 Team (formally A360 Team) is required by C4R, and comes with C4R subscription. BIM 360 Team can also be accessed with a web browser by members of the team not using Revit where they can preview models, upload and download other project documents, etc..  See What is the difference between Autodesk Collaboration for Revit and BIM 360 Team?

To understand C4R and BIM 360 Team better, and its advantages over RS, please see AR17677: The Nuts and Bolts of BIM 360 Team and Collaboration for Revit

For more information and pricing on Collaboration for Revit see our Collaboration for Revit Overview as well as the Subscribe page there.

For a detailed discussion of the differences and considerations between RS and C4R, this 2015 presentation from IMAGINiT is still very informative: Revit Server vs. Collaboration for Revit
