Revit 2017 fails to print to PDF

When i try to print to PDF the loading bar either freezes or doesn't start up at all, no pdf's being made. I mainly use "multiple selected views/sheets into a single file" option.

I tried the long route by creating seperate pdf files to combine after, but even some single pdf sheets aren't being made! I've lowered the resolution and all that as well with no solution. SOO FRUSTRATING, i can't send drawing sets to clients...

Every new version of Revit comes with new bugs and issues its very frustrating....

Please help.

Did you check the graphic that was attached to be sure you had properly set administrative permission for Revit.exe?

Apparently that opens the door to a host of other problems.

That is the solution I have used on my PC as well as others I administer.
It does properly identify the cause of the problem which is of course the
firewall resting the control revit can take of other programs. This is a
problem which must be addressed by MIcrosoft.

he only other problem I have had is mapped network drives are not available
when browsing files with Revit. I usually open file from withing window
explorer and not Revit anyway. You can enter the proper network address of
the server in the Revit file browser and then add that location to your
Places.

print preview freezes on mine.... so that solution didn't work for me.

Mine seems to be related to the Sketchy Lines. as long as sketchy lines is OFF, i haven't had any issues.

we use PDFXchange ($$) and we have not had any issues printing sheets or views to PDF.

the only issue we have had recently seem to be related to Sketchy Lines. when Sketchy Lines is enabled that view wont print.

The issue also has to do with memory allocation. It may be that turning on
sketchy lines requires more memory for printing. Making the correction I
recommend should make it possible for you to print with sketchy lines on.

Cute PDF also prints without problems. Cute PDF is one of the most popular
solution because it is free and works well. Installing Cute PDF is a
little annoying because you have to be careful not to install the sponsored
programs it comes with.

what we ended up doing for this project was to export to an image, which worked well for what we needed. the memory issue makes sense too, ill look into that as well.

I started using DoroPDF. The filesizes seem larger than Adobe, but it works!

Message 90 of 219

It works for me.

Nope... still not working with adobe for Revit 2018.

Message 92 of 219

So weird, the pdf saves in a different place where you select. Look for in documents.

After setting up a number of Laptops and Desktops we have found their is a
problem with Dell Drivers. When we have loaded up systems and installed
Drivers from the Dell Support Webiste Acrobat does not work. When we have
loaded up Windows 10 Systems and just let Microsoft Autoupdate the system
Acrobat does work.

I am using windows 10 and not on a Dell so the problem seems to be larger
than this. My only observation is that for such a giant company at
Autodesk, you think they would taKE THE TIME AND CARE ENOUGH TO FIX THIS.

Definitely not Dell or HP or Lenova or other manufacturers at fault in my experience, according to my live session with subscription help it seems it's because Windows 10 is a moving target for security reasons. I still think these huge giants can talk to each other and let us get what we're paying for, not acceptable the we are obliged to figure out work arounds, restarts, reinstalling etc to get a simple print to pdf to work!

Yea Dell often packages 3rd party apps into their drives. there is little
question in my mind the problem is a firewall issue. To create a PDF Revit
has to call Adobe and is basically acting as an outside agent. Simple face
is Autodesk considers Adobe a competitor. The two companies don't seem
interested in collaborating. It is unfortunate to the end user.

I can create PDFs using other 3rd party programs so I am pretty sure Adobe
just isn't interested in solving the issues.

Thanks this workaround is a working temporary fix

Message 99 of 219

I keep having this problem intermittently. It's always fun having to do a little "treasure hunt" to find my documents. It's not like as an architect I ever have any deadlines i'm trying to meet.

hard to believe we pay Autodesk so much yet this is an ongoing problem.
