Not all BIM 360 Team projects / folders visible in Revit until restart

I have an ongoing issue that has survived a complete re-install of Windows 10 and Revit.

When I first start my computer in the morning, launch Revit, and click the BIM 360 Team icon in the File>Open dialog I only see C4R projects that are hosted on others' team hubs; I do not see projects that are hosted on my hub. However, I can open recent projects that are hosted on my hub from the recent projects list.

Once I restart the computer the problem goes away and I can see all of the projects.

Any ideas what could be happening here or how to troubleshoot or fix this?

A colleague (someone I've invited to many of my projects as a "project contributor") mentioned to me today that sometimes he can't see my projects either and a restart usually fixes it for him. He can see his BIM 360 Team projects just fine but mine disappear occasionally.

This leads me to believe the issue is not local to any one computer but has something to do with my BIM 360 Team hub and/or Autodesk account.

I'm in touch with Autodesk support; hopefully we can find the root cause and fix it.

This may be a matter of Revit version. There is no cross-over. So Revit 2017 projects won’t appear when in Revit 2016.  And Revit 2016 projects won’t appear in Revit 2017.

This article may be helpful too: Collaboration for Revit: Projects on A360 do not show up in Revit

Does that sound like what’s going on? Or does it appear to be something else?

If my reply was helpful, please give a "Kudo" or click the "Accept as Solution" button below (or both).

These are all 2017 projects. Sometimes they appear in the 2017 File>Open browser and sometimes they don't, for both me and a remote contributor. So far all that is required is a restart to get the projects to appear.

If/when this happens again would you be willing to post a journal that captures the attempt?

@JADAstudio after investigating it looks like there is a timeout on the call to the hub with those projects.  I believe this is transient in nature and if you simply close the open dialog and wait a minute and reopen it will show the projects (your reboot of the machine coincidentally is enough time to try again, but I don't believe this is required).  If you continue to struggle with it please message me directly and I can investigate further.

thanks,

Thanks, Adam.

Is there anything I can do on my end to eliminate the root cause of the timeout?

Also, why would the timeout only affect the projects hosted on my hub and not those hosted on others' hubs?

When you access the open dialog and click the BIM 360 Team icon we basically make a call to each hub that you are a member of for it's list of projects you have access to.  It appears from the journal you posted and some digging in the back end that for whatever reason the call to that particular hub was longer than normal and thus timed out and returned no projects for just that hub.  There's nothing you can really do to eliminate the timeout because its a call from one of our services to another.  It shouldn't take so long that it times out so we'll continue to look into that part on the back end.  In the meantime, just close and re-open the dialog and let me know in the next day or two how often it happens in a day so we can get a better handle on the frequency.

thanks @JADAstudio, this information will help us narrow down exactly what's happening.  Obviously this isn't just transient and well work to find a resolution as quickly as possible.

Hello @JADAstudio, sorry for the delay in getting back to you.  I was wondering if you could private message me a wider scope of journals if this is still happening.  It would be great if we could get several days worth, especially if it's happening with the same frequency as you mention above.

thanks,

No worries, will do.

I don't usually make that many trips to the file>open dialog in one day. I'll test the file>open dialog more frequently over the next few days and PM you log files early next week, if that's ok.

Hi guys,

I'm having the same problem as @JADAstudio. But a restart of Revit or waiting a few minutes to reopen the Open dialogbox doesn't solve the problem for me.

I can reach the project with an internet browser or open them in Revit using 'Recent Documents', but not through the Open dialogbox.

I can send some printscreens if necessary.

I'm working with Revit 2017.2 and the project is also started in Revit version 2017.

Dear,

Can someone help me with the problem that also is reported by @JADAstudio in this post: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-collaboration-forum/not-all-bim-360-team-projects-folders-visib...?

Hello,

Can you post or send me a journal file so I can see if it's the same issue as baumbach?  If we can find a specific patter it will certainly help us identify a solution.

thanks,

Hi @AdamPeter, Attached you find my journal and dump file.

Message 19 of 22

Thanks @joris.vanbossche.  Are you a member of multiple hubs or just one?  Also are you getting the "you are not a member of any BIM 360 Team projects" every time or just periodically?  The journal makes it seem persistent, but just wanted to double check.  You also mentioned that you can open models from this project from your recent history.  Does this mean that it was working for you previously and recently lost the ability to access or has this never worked for you?

Thanks,
