Detach BIM360 Central Model for External Consultant

I'm trying to detach my central file from BIM 360 and package it up in order to send it to an outside consultant.

I opened my file in BIM360, and the detach from central option is grayed out, so I followed these instructions. Detach from Central grayed out when opening from BIM 360 shared file in Revit

I then closed my standard central file. I reopened and was able to click "detach from central" and "audit". I pressed okay to proceed.

I then followed these steps to packaging up the Revit file. How to Properly detach a Revit Central File.

Problem is when I save as the file, it automatically saves it as a central. Any consultant try to use this is not able to because it is searching for the central file.

When I saveas the file, no option to uncheck the "Make this a Central Model after save"When I saveas the file, no option to uncheck the "Make this a Central Model after save"Central Cant be Found.PNG

Any help is appreciated!!

Hi @alangius,

You're on the right track! But the workflow you have described is more similar to file based work sharing. The instructions from the following link are correct: See: Detach from Central grayed out when opening from BIM 360 shared file in Revit

Open the Revit file, and then use Save As to save it as a separate file,  it will become a standard central file. This is all that is needed. You will end up sending a central model to the consultant.

Alternately, publish the model to B360 and download the model and send it, or have them download the model directly from B360. We find these work much faster than saving detaching zipping and sending. We would end up uploading to a file share anyway, so why not just use B360 for that.

How can I detach the checked model?  When I do the SaveAs Project, all that shows up is our work, not backgrounds.  I don't see any options to detach the checked model.

Revit cloud worksharing is different from the standard worksharing mode:

When trying to open the model, it does not open the central model directly.
The "Create New Local " and "Detach from Central" options do not apply for this mode. So they are disabled automatically.
Solution:
Open the Revit file, and use 'Save as' to save it as a separate file. It becomes a standard central file.
