Collaboration for Revit random disappearance

I am running Revit 2018.2 on Windows 10 64 bit with 4K display (nvidia geforce gtx 960m) on DELL XPS 9550 laptop.  The Collaboration for Revit Panels within the Ribbon disappear for no apparent reason.  This has happened to me 4 times.  It would be available one day and the next morning, gone.  Nothing on my laptop has changed during the 4 instances.  I cannot find any logic to why it is happening.

The only way to fix this issue is to do a Clean Uninstall and reinstall of Revit 2018 then do the 2018.2 update.  However, it would seem to be fine for a few weeks or a month and then it happens again....

Anyone else see this?

This sounds like some interesting behavior (although not something I’ve seen before).

To narrow down the scope of what is occurring, I would suggest checking the following when the issue occurs:

  • Does the Collaboration for Revit add-in still show up in the Programs and Features Control Panel? (If not this would indicate that something is uninstalling it through the Windows uninstaller.)
  • If the C4R add-in still shows up in the Control Panel, are the ADDIN files being cleared from the Revit Add-ins folder?
    C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2018

Additionally, when the issue occurs, I would suggest testing the following steps to more easily reinstall the C4R add-in:

  1. Uninstall the C4R add-in (if listed in the Control Panel).
  2. Uninstall the Personal Accelerator (if listed in the Control Panel).
  3. Run the 2018.2 update.
  4. Select to Uninstall, when prompted (this will uninstall some external components included with the update).
  5. Run the 2018.2 update a second time (this should reinstall the C4R add-in).
  6. Confirm that the Collaboration for Revit Panels are restored in Revit.

Hi Lance

Sorry but I have been on a mini-vacation.  Just now getting back.  So far the issue has not shown up again.  I will monitor this and when it happens, I will check your checklist to see if anything comes up....will keep you posted.  Thanks
