Autodesk Desktop Connector taking up so much system memory

Hey all,

My work laptop has been running incredibly slowly lately (probably past 2 weeks), and it's brand new as of earlier 2024. It's a Dell Precision 5570, specs below:

  • i7-12700H
  • 32 GB installed RAM
  • NVIDIA RTX A200 8GB Laptop GPU

I've had a sneaking suspicion that the Autodesk Desktop Connector [ADC] app has had something to do with it. It casually sits at almost 4 GB of system memory usage, which sounds preposterous for something that's just supposed to communicate with the Autodesk Construction Cloud (to the best of my knowledge). Reference screenshot below.

Task Manager + Desktop Connector tray window open.png

I don't regularly work with 300 MB+ central cloud models, which I consider to be large, nor do many of the models that I work with have large links or imports. I recently removed a handful of projects to appear in File Explorer, but that's had little to no impact of the memory usage of the ADC. All of my drivers are up to date; Windows 11, NVIDIA drivers, etc...

Posting here because I can't seem to find people with similar problems elsewhere on the world wide web, wondering if anyone else has had this issue or can provide some advice.

Thank you all in advance,

Connor

Could be a computer maintenance issue. Do you clean out temp files regularly?

My Autodesk Desktop Connector only consumes 500 MB of RAM and I am working with a 2GB Revit model.

I think the issue has resolved itself somehow. Did a lot of cleaning of temporary files, driver updates, and uninstalling apps that I no longer use. Thank you for your feedback.

You resolves it by cleaning up. Computer maintenance is essential when dealing with such large amounts of data.
