Adding vertical dimensions in 3d ismetric views

I see that adding dimensions to elements in 3d views works fine for plan type dimensions.  However it seems that adding vertical dimensions for elevation heights isn't working.  What do I need to be doing to dimension things vertically or on an angle or curves?  Is there a tutorial for that?

Thank You

You need to set a work plane for the dimensions first.  In your 3D view, go to Architecture --> Set (on the Work Plane tab), and then select a face that is parallel to the dimensions you want to create.  You can set and re-set the work plane as many times as you want to get the dimensions you want.

This behavior seems to no longer exist in Revit 2019.

Never mind, the parallel/perpendicular plane setting threw me off, and  I was doing it wrong.
