Zoom Extents on Sheet

So, something that always bothered me with Sheets in Revit. Why is it that 'Zoom Fit' only extends to the extent of the Titleblock? We have 'Zoom Sheet Size' but it never seems to zoom to the actual sheet extents, which would be best suited to fit to the Titleblock. I would expect 'Zoom Fit' to include any elements visible in the whole sheet "space". We often end up with strange offsets between clip extents, view titles and the desired visible geometry (whole other problem); this results in the visible geometry be well away from the titleblock. The only way to find out where it is, is to delete the titleblock and then Zoom All.

I think I'm missing something.

By "Zoom fit," do you mean double-clicking with the middle mouse button? Because for me at least (Rvt26), it does extend the zoom to everything drawn in "paper space," even if there are elements outside the title block.

It's true that if I use "Fit to Sheet Size," which is below the scroll wheel, it goes to a random spot that doesn't even match the size of the title block.
(although the truth is that I never use either the navigation wheel or the zoom buttons underneath, only the mouse wheel or double-clicking the mouse wheel)

Yes, the zoom that is defaulted to middle button double-click. Zoom to Sheet Size seems completely pointless.

On the Zoom Fit problem, there appears to be more specifics to this then my initial post that I'm finding hard to put to words. FYI, I've tried the following on R24 and R25 (alas no R26 yet 😢) with regards to Viewports. Sheet text, etc are not being considered.

When View Crop is on, if the View Title is in the extents of the titleblock it will only zoom fit to the extents of the titleblock, even if the viewport is outside of the titleblock. Only if a View Title is outside the extents of the titleblock, it will zoom fit out to where the view title is picked up. But, if a Viewport is set to No Title, Zoom Fit includes the view outside of the titleblock, regardless of where the View Title was when it was turned on.

However, to add to the confusion, if the view has Crop View off, the Zoom Fit does not include the view regardless of where or what the View Title is set.

This all pops up as an issue when cutting sections sometimes the view crop seems to end up in a different elevation to the plan it was cut, so we need to turn view crop off. As soon as you do that you can't Zoom Fit to find where the geometry is located.

Really hoping my further explanation clarifies the issue and not add further confusion.

Now I understand what's happening. What a specific behavior issue!

I tested it in a new file in RVT 26 and it happens exactly as you described step by step, except for the "no cropping" option. If the view (without a title or with a title outside the title block) is outside the title block, it does zoom in to capture it.
