Your product and your website are very frustrating.

I have already made a post asking for help with a problem with the content library not downloading. Here are some other things that I have noticed about your poorly thought out services, Autodesk:

1. From your main pages, there is not a clear link to your community forums. I have to do a search, navigate to a page, and only through practice have I found the page to do this that will have a link to the forums.

2. Once you are at the forums, there is not a link that will show you your past threads. I cannot find my post which has surely been replied to.

3. I have an educational account. Revit WAS working partially-see above materials issue-but has now decided that I have a 30 day trial since reinstalling.I cannot contact you directly, I have to use the forums. Which are difficult to navigate-see above.

For such a large company with such a large corner on the market, you guys sure know how to frustrate the hell out of your customers. I am an architecture student, and Ill tell you what, at this point I will do everything I can to steer clear of using your software. My user experience has sucked. Both of my autodesk product instructors both threw up their hands when I told them about the issues I was having and said something to the tune of "yeah well these things happen but you know what no one else is competing with them so they get away with it." I am sure as **** glad I have not paid you any money because if I had I would be livid at this point.

Yours Truly,

one very unhappy with your product and services architecture student with lots of work to do.

It is down near the bottom of the page.

Click on you username at top of the page.  It will open a page showing your recent activity, including your posts.

Sorry for your frustrations.  I hope you don't give up.  There will be many more bigger badder obstacles when you finish your school and start working.  These are nothing, really.

Granted the Autodesk website isn't always easy to navigate. I have a bunch of Autodesk links bookmarked just to save time. And it often took me a while to find these pages to begin with.

True it's a real pain in the *ss to try and contact Autodesk directly. I understand that they want to prevent an avalanche of emails, but sometimes the forums just don't cut it and I need/want to talk to an Autodesk professional.

Concerning Revit and modelling in Revit. Every program will have it's flaws and Revit is definetely far from perfect.

But then again, neither is ArchiCAD or Vectorworks.

ToanDN,

Just so you know, the link to the forums only appears on the main screen when you are not signed in. As soon as you sign in you are taken to the Autodesk:Manage page that only links to the Autodesk:Account page that only links back to the manage page. These days for home computers, most people will save password info and remember sites, so as soon as i go to autodesk it is natural to just sign in. Why would the navigation be so limited after signing in???

Thank you for clarifying how to find my own posts. Again, very unclear from the page alone.

Andrew

So you get a free copy of expensive software because you're a student. That's great, right?

But you don't get service that costs them money to provide.

Sure, it's a bummer, but you DO understand that you haven't paid them a penny, right?

Once you buy, you get better service. Buy through a local authorized reseller (a decent one) and if you're a nice guy like me, they'll come to your office to help you figure out problems. They'll even bring you doughnuts when they come. And they'll send you a birthday card. My reseller even pets me gently on the head during frustrating Revit sessions to help keep me calm.
