Wrapping wall surface material over an object (Fireplace)

I am trying to wrap a wall tile on a fireplace over an object (Fireplace) to get to a result as in the first screenshot below. Can anybody guide me on how to achieve this? I am also attaching the model screenshot. This is a HeatNGlow Primo fireplace. I downloaded the object from their website.

The tiles in your Revit file are created using a model fill pattern.

You can create a custom pattern and import it into Revit, however it seems that the tile sizes in the image are a bit random, so it could be tricky.

To create a custom pattern you can use Hatchbuilder - http://www.revitlog.nl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=382:revithatchbuilder-englisch&c...

Then go to Manage>Settings>Materials

Find the tile material

Select the Surface Pattern

Select Model under Pattern Type

Click New

Select Custom

Import and select the new hatch file

As it will be difficult to replicate this pattern, I'd just use a curtain wall for the tiles and create grid lines (use All Segments for the horizontal lines and One Segment for the Vertical)

Or the simplest option to create this would be to remove the pattern from the material and use model lines to create it.

Go to Architecture>Work Plane>Set

Pick a plane

Select the face of the Fireplace

Now Go to Architecture>Model>Model Line and draw model lines representing the tiles

Repeat for other faces

So there's no way to "extend" the surface of the existing wall down/left/right/up the way one can extend a wall surface down over a floor?

I think what you want to do is possible, but I am not sure I totally understand the issue. Is the problem with the tile as it is wrapping around the corner into the area that looks like shelving in your second image? From the 2 images you posted it seems like what you have modeled is pretty close, so i am sure there is some detail I am not completely understanding on what you want to do.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. In the screenshot example below, I am extending the drywall layer up over a floor system so the side of the floor system is correctly clad with Gyp Board. Ideally, I would like to "extend" the tile surface of the fireplace wall down to the opening of the fireplace so not the entire box is shown.

Ok now I understand. You want to wrap/extend at an opening in the middle of the wall. The controls you were talking about are controls to unlock wall layers so they can be extended up at the top or down at the bottom. Unfortunately these particular controls only work on the top and bottoms of walls, and not at an opening like you are looking to do.

All is not lost however, you can do what you want by turning the wall at the fireplace into "parts" once the wall is parts, you can set views in your project to "show parts". Then the individual layers of a wall can be selected. Once a layer is selected, enable the shape handles form the properties palette. Now you can make adjustments.

Be aware the original wall still exists in the "un-altered" form so you have to be careful in views to make sure it is showing the way you want it to. If you are doing material takeoffs it is also important to remember the takeoff looking at "walls" will not reflect the same amounts as a take off looking at "parts".

Here is a screen cast showing this kind of alteration. I already had the wall opening, so I am just showing part creation and manipulation.
