Hi guys,
I have 2 linked buildings within my file and I'm having trouble with adjusting the extents of of the levels and Grids of that linked file. FYI the models are both detached from the central so I can always go back and edit the Grids/levels in those files. Problem is that I've found that even when I do and reload it back into my model, it doesnt update?
I was wondering what's the best way to do this? I can copy/monitor the grids but I'm worried that I'll end up having extra levels from the other 2 'linked' buildings and it gets really confusing when trying to locate walls/floors etc on the building I have. Thanks all
when you copy and monitor grids and levels from a linked model it gives you the ability to manage the extents of the copied (live grids / levels in your model not the linked model
Model A linked into model B
model B copy monitor Grids/ Levels from Model A
in model B after copy monitor is successful go into VG and select Revit links tab change Display settings from BY HOST VIEW to CUSTOM, select Annotation Categories scroll down and uncheck Grids / Levels to turn off the linked versions of your Grids / Levels
you would need to repeat these steps for every linked model
also only copy / monitor from 1 model (A) into all other models B,C,D, etc.

If you already have levels and grids which you have been using already in the main model, why or for what purpose are you copy/monitoring grids and levels from the links?

1. Copy Monitor only the levels you need.
2. Good practice is to have a DATUM file, a Revit file only containing levels and grids, and you will copy/monitor from that link.
