Worksharing Monitor 2018 - local vs server

Hi everyone.

I have a question about WSM for Revit Architecture 2018

Situation: Routine file maintenance.

  1. Backupe Revit file and saved in other folder;
  2. Original Revit file audited, detached;
  3. Saved as (under the same name of the original file);
  4. Afterwards, accessed CF with "create new local" option;
  5. Revit prompted the "Overwrite existing file", which I also chose.

Until this time, no one was inside of the model and I opened the WSM. I got the message that I was working inside the CF. Don't mind the second TAB (the screenshot was taken at the end of the process)

AFTER someone started working on the file, the second TAB automatically opened and the message was that everyone was working in the local file (including me), as it should be. The first Tab didn't disappear though.

It seems that I am accessing two files instead of one (which should be only the local)?

Server: internal office server. No Revit server, no 360.

Question: Is this something to be worried about? Is it normal to happen? Would users in the future have problems with further synchronization with the CF? Is it only a delay in the Addin recognizing that I am only working with the local file?

Thank you all.

All seems fine from what I can see, Possibly just a delay on the work-shared monitor. One question tho when you've done your save-as over the original file did you tick the 'make central after save' option?

@Anonymous, thanks for the answer.

Yes, "make this as central model after save" was ticked by default (greyed out) before I save it. There is no other option since I chose preserving the worksets when detaching the model.

Probably yes because AFTER closing the file with revit and worksharing open, the red TAB was still visible although no file was open. I closed and re-opened Revit and it was gone.

After some further step by step test, I noticed that saving the "model as" with "make this as central model after save", the file is logically converted into a central file and that is why revit shows the "Open central file" inside the file access history.

I am now starting to use the WSM daily so I want to interpret its info well enough. Is getting a bit more clear every day.

I've seen inconsistencies with what the WSM is reporting.  Users in projects when they aren't, users not in projects when they are, multiple instances of the same user in the project, etc.

If it has been more than a day or two, try rebooting the machine.  This usually corrects the issue.

Worksharing Monitor reads periodic "exports" of data to display the information. It is not unusual to see duplicitous users initially, just after opening a project. Once a sync has taken place or a short period of time has passed the information will be in sync.
