Working with multiple assemblies

I have a project where I am using assemblies for precast balcony slabs on a multi story building. In many cases I will have duplicate assemblies on different levels. As the project develops and I need to add more info to the assemblies if I make a change to one assembly Revit reports that "edits caused a new assembly type to be created." Is there a way to update all the assemblies at once? In the past I have had challenges using assemblies in this manner because I found that I need to make updates to each one. Currently my thought is that I would need to have one assembly complete and to copy the completed assembly to the other locations where there are identical balcony slabs, which is not ideal because I need to represent all the balconies in the model however, it is unknown when I will receive all the necessary info to complete my work.

Any thoughts or reference related material would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Groups are better suited for managing repetition of design elements.

Thank you for your suggestion. If I were to use groups would I be able to populate the object with rebar and create schedules, this is essential for my task? Thanks.

Thank you for this suggestion, I'm now looking into groups as an alternate option for assemblies.
