there use to be a revit add on for wood framing that i thought was very good.but now you guys dont support newer versions of revit. now if you want metal or wood framing you have to spend another 5k to get them. thats garbage. you guys already had why not follow thru.revit cost enough as it is without spending another 5k. also now you guys force us to spend 2500 per yr on the software which i think is unfair and greedy
FWIW, you can use Curtain Walls or Beams and Columns to do the same thing the REX Timber Frame did.
When you say "you guys", you mean "Autodesk"; right? Reason I ask, is because "us guys" are Revit Users. This is a Revit Users Forum. FWIW.
i would never insult anyone on here. i find all these forums very useful. since i use aec and the mechanical packages there is much i still dont know. since i posted this on ideas i would hope autodesk would see it. not that they care what i just say.im just mad because unlike the mechanical package which i bought decades ago i paid full price for revit. so i saw what it did yrs ago and thought it was great.so my aplogies to you and anyone who was offended. and yes it was towards autodesk and nobody personal
I feel your pain. This is why I don't rely on the addin because Autodesk will simply take it away in the future. I've use their software for over a decade and they did this for every few releases. First they give you great addin and only to get rid of it in the future release. I did give Revit development team quite an earful complaint. Their plugin should be made permanent instead of giving us half-bake addin and take it away. So I would suggest add your complain in their idea forum users can upvote.
As for alternative, you can check out Curtainwall sample from this link and see if that will help you to get what you want.
@rclement : I wasn't insulted and you offended no one here. No need to apologize. I just thought you might have "us guys" confused with the "Suits". Some people post here thinking they are talking directly to Autodesk. I can understand that misconception. Autodesk refers users to this forum for troubleshooting help. I've actually had a few posters get frustrated with my answers and threaten to report me to Autodesk for being unhelpful - as if that threat will compel me to give them a different answer they like. It's kind of funny.
Anyways, all's good. Vent all you like. I might even join in sometimes. ![]()
Catch you later.
