Window Void Extrusion/Can't cut instance of

Hi,

I have a family which has multiple voids inside. The problem is the Sill I am using has a void already built in and I saw that as soon as I uncut it in the family and load it in my Window family it works okay. But I can't have it cutting and then load, it just won't let me place the family at all.

I can leave it without cutting but it looks bad and it is physically wrong. Do you have any suggestions?

I can't use opening since I have different openings for the frame the inside and the outside since it is an old building.

PS. As soon as I have a little bit of space between the sill's void and my in-family void it works great but as you can see in the photo it is weird and not correct!

Post the family and we'll fix it for you or tell you how.

...if can post the Project so we can see what the hosting condition is like, that would be even better.

Hi Bradley,

Thank you, you can find it attached.

I made it work but I don't like that I can't do it as I want to. What I did is deleted the void in my sill nested family and created one in the actual window family. It worked!

I also wanted to do a family which had rectangular and arched frame but the void didn't work with the yes/no formula even though it worked when I tried in a generic family template with an extrusion but no luck with the wall!

To reiterate, I would like to know if I can use the Void in the window family so that I can control it with Yes/No and the other one would be why shouldn't I be able to create the void in the nested family and then use it in the window family.

Looking forward to your response.

No such issue here.  The round opening is a nested void in the window family.

Yes but can you assign a yes/no parameter to the void?

I wanted to create a family with the arch and without one in the same family.

The Cut Geometry parameter is for choosing cut or not cut elements local to the family, not for choosing cut or not cut a host.  For example, you can choose use it to add option to cut or not cut a door panel, but you cannot use it to ad options to cut or not cut the host wall.
