Window frame

Hi. I have a problem.

When I put window on the wall window frame is always outside of the wall.

Picture 1.Picture 1.      Window 2.JPG

I cant figure out why on the 30 cm wall thickness window frame is outside and when wall thickness is 50 cm window is place inside wall.

Can someone help me?
Thanks.

Did you properly constrain the extrusions/sweeps in the family to the reference plane on each side of the host?

You can post the family if you like for someone to look at it and fix

When you put window on the wall, window frame is always outside of the wall?  You mean inside the wall?  Right?  Lock your dimensions.

...doesn't look like you have any dimensions (other than "EQ") in your screenshot. You need dimensions.  That's how elements get "constrained" as  @RDAOU mentioned.

As mentioned above...you geometries are not constrained/locked to the proper reference planes...you can drag the shape handles (the bleu arrows) >> slid back and then forth to snap to the reference then lock them...no need for dimensions

You should align&lock the outer reference planes to the family wall and add dimensions to the other refplanes 3 on each side. Not towards the centerline or either side. That should align the geometry to the wall sides for any wall thickness. Edit: And ofcourse lock your geometry to your refplanes as @RDAOU mentioned above.

edit2: You can find the Align (AL) under modify tab, use tab cycle through it to select wall edges or geometry ie.

I don't think it's a Window Frame.  Could be a Window Trim, but with it being on BOTH sides, I'm dubious. Also looks like there is missing geometry as well. If it's a Window, where's the Glass.  There could Family Parameters controlling all of the geometries size, placement (e.g. inset/offset), visibility, etc.   Check and see.  Any Instance or Type Parameters?

I you want to post the Family, we'll be happy to fix 'er up and return it to you.  We'll even top off the fluid levels and check the tire pressures for you -- free of charge.
