The windows are not being cut by the viewplane so I placed some symbolic line so that they show up in plans.
I wanted to create a masking region spanning the window and hiding the wall components, so that these windows read a little better in plan. My walls are grey though, and I cannot create filled regions, only masking regions. Am I missing something?
Also,
I can convert some lines to "hidden line" but others, though converted to hidden line in the family, do not show up as hidden in the model. I have checked and there are no overlapping lines. I also can't convert these lines with linestyle. Also, taking these lines away, just leaves the window with no perimeter in plan.
If I take these lines away there is no perimeter. Just making the point that these are not overlapping lines.
Maybe you are looking for object style subcategories...? Not sure if I understood the question.
Did you check that this window is not above the cut plan in the project?
within the family, did you try to check the visibility setting of the window elements?
Perhaps it is better than trying to create with lines. If even so the idea of using the lines is still important for you see this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdxtnv04MXo (is made with Revit in Portuguese but you can understand the flow).
If you still want to use a mask region , you can create a mask region in a generic annotation family with width and length parameters, and insert it as a nested family in your window family.

As noted, it's not being cut. Changing the visibility of the plan elements doesn't help because all of these appear as solid lines when they should be hidden lines, as they are above the cut plane. They also show up as masking regions hiding my grey wall.
I have symbolic lines that are hidden, and appear hidden in the family, but then appear solid in the project plan view.
Second. I can mask the view, but that only allows a solid white background. I want to have a filled region that matches the color of my plan's walls.

So are we talking about the invisible line trick? It's not doing the trick? Share the family to have a look.

What if you change the view scale? I suppose you're expecting to see dashed line style?
Yes, I have to increase the scale to something ridiculous though.
How do I modify the "hidden-projection "subcategory lines? - I went in the additional settings -line pattern and into the vg overrides but neither seem to have an impact in the family.
I also went into the vg of the project view and it had no impact. - Shouldn't view overrides, override the window projection line family?
Where can I change this linestyle?
The invisible line trick works.
I am missing the lines at the edges of the family though - exterior frame. No idea why.
Also how can I change the pattern of these lines. I would like them to show up as hidden.
Finally, I guess there is no way of placing a filled region in the family?
In the end, shouldn't all this stuff be a feature of the View Range?
