Window- Detail not flexing with wall thickness

Hi,

I am working on a window family.  It has a nested detail item.  I have built the family from the interior assigning a parameter to the frame offset from interior and then a parameter for the frame depth.  I am was hoping the detail item exterior sill would then flex when locked to the exterior wall reference line but that does not work.  Is there a way of creating the family with an internal offset rather then built from the centre line? File attached

Thanks

The most stable way is to create a reporting parameter for the thickness of the wall then use that to map to the nested detail item.

Thanks, yes I had tried that previously.  I linked the detail item instance parameter to the reporting parameter in the family and I get the error "a reporting parameter can only be associated to an element property only if it's dimension references are all to host elements in the family"

Create a new parameter that equals the reporting parameter and map that one to the family

thanks, I did try that before and I get an error saying "a reporting parameter can be used in a formula only if tis dimension references are all to host elements in the family"  I get this error when I try to create an equals in the parameters dialog.  ie: before I try to assign it

The Reporting dimension needs to be pulled between the Faces (Exterior and Interior) of the Host Wall.

Thank you.  Yes I had been connecting the report parameters to the reference planes.  Locking to the wall faces worked
