Windows and doors are almost always installed in residential walls prior to brick being applied on the exterior. So, by default in Revit, Windows and doors are on the outside of the brick.
Hopefully there is a way to change this? I have a 2x4 wall style with a 4" brick layer on the outside.

- Create door and window families with inset instance parameter
- Place them in embed curtain wall and move the curtain wall back from the exterior wall to create inset. See this thread:
Another workflow is to model the 2x4 stud walls as a separate and distinct wall type and host the windows to that wall. You might even put these stud walls with windows into a "framing" phase. Then in a forward phase (if you choose to phase construction), place the exterior wall finish layers -- as separate and distinct wall type(s) -- on top of the stud wall and join the wall types together to extend the window openings so it penetrates all the walls.
