Hello community,
I am having so many issues trying to modify the standard window and door families for revit 2023 to have true masonry openings. Example: a 3'0" door/window would actually have a masonry opening of 3'4". I am also trying to keep the trim & parameter constraints intact, so as to be able to add brick mould and have the masonry opening increase/decrease along with the size of the window/door. I would like to accomplish this in the family, as using voids & cut geometry is way to inefficient; however, I keep having issues with constraints breaking or revit not being able to generate the family if I attempt to resize. Does anybody know a step by step method to help me figure this out or could recommend a tutorial that addresses this issue? Below is an example of what I am hoping to achieve.
Thank you all for your time and help!
Use a void instead of a cut opening in the family so that you can create a parametric stepping.
You might have on easier go of it by just making the buildup a separate wall type, what with the wrap and all. Basically, modeling it in "parts".
Like this:
NOTE: "Wrap" is done with perpendicular walls.
