Why is this Rebar Not Shaded?

The rebar is solid white. I would like it to display as a specified grey.

I've changed the material of the rebar to steel and modified the properties. I would expect this to change the view state in this section. Does rebar have particular rules that do not follow the assigned material?

You can display the rebar as grey in shade visual style.

Otherwise you have to change the Surface Pattern in Visibility Graphics.
