Why doesn't Revit See DropBox?

When opening a file from within Revit, it does not locate DropBox. Typically in any other program when opening a file, the program sees the desktop link. I have been unable to locate a setting to allow it to view DropBox. Does anyone have any solutions or explanation as to why this is?

thank you

Hi

I can see the files from Dropbox, from Revit..

dropbox-1.JPG

1. Have a local folder ( Dropbox ) synced to Dropbox account.

2. Thats achieved using Dropbox app for windows..

Revit needs local files to open, its not gonna open directly from cloud ...

Cheers!

Your answer is hopeful more than helpful. It is promising to see your Revit sees the folder. Mine is also set in the same location, yet Revit does not see the local Drop Box folder like you can in your Revit program.

I am using fully updated 2017 Revit.

try to get the location from folder browser, and try to open that location in Revit..

Revit should access that location...

it has nothing to do with dropbox, one drive, gdrive etc.. just a local harddrive location / folder.

Best luck

Hi @Anonymous

Did you try a 'restore file folder' option in Revit file open menu?

You can also post to the dropbox forum for additional feedback.

The solution is this;

If dropbox is not found by Revit when searching for files, one is to look in the (E:) drive within My Computer. For some reason my Revit will only go to Dropbox through this path.
