Why do DWG files rotate?

Hi fellas!

I haven't wrapped my head around this one.
Why do linked/imported DWG files sometimes rotate?

It all looks good, but all of a sudden the file opens and the DWG is rotated.

They shouldn't. Can you step us through what you are doing?

I link a dwg with "Current view only" while the view is oriented to "Project North", then pin it.
Angle to true north is 288 degrees. Using BIM360 if that could have anything to do with it.

Looks like it should. But after closing the file it sometimes seems to suddenly change orientation.

Hi @Marcus.Isacsson

Has the UCS in AutoCAD been modified?  Can you verify it is set to WCS?

I have seen this happen before when it has been changed.

Well, Revit created some when we tried 'forcing' it to a location.

 Are you Re-Linking or Re-Loading?

Not intentionally. But I guess this happens when the model is closed and then re-opened?

Are you looking at different views with different "Project North" and "True North" settings?

Kind regards,

Sounds like something that happened to me too and I'd like to know the solution as well. If I understand you correctly, when you first link the DWG it looks correct, but later it could simply get rotated?

In cases like those, I try to isolate and recreate the problem to understand how to solve it.
Did you manage to isolate and recreate the problem?

I possible, could you re-save the project (revit + DWG file) with non-sensitive data, ie erase anything you don't want to show and keep only the issue only for us to look at.

First thing I can think of is Shared Coordinates. Did you link using this setting?
