The fact that "Replace with Text" cannot start with a number is a very stupid and annoying limitation of this program. Our firm uses this a lot in AutoCad for typical partition (drawing a single wall partition and just noting that the face-to-face dimension varies per type.) Now we need to make new drawings for each partition type making sheets even more cluttered. The screenshot above is an example of what I am trying to create.

Are you talking about "Replace with TEXT"?
![]()
...thank goodness it can't.
....Maybe:
Could you please be a bit more specific? I cannot delete just the dimension text, it deletes the whole string. I also tried tabbing to get to the text and that didn't work either. If you could please explain it a bit further that would be awesome. Nobody in the firm knows how to do this. They are just drafting the lines and ticks...
Double click on the dimension text to open the dialog, choose replace and right click on the empty box to open yet another dialog, choose Insert Unicode character and pick one from the Unicode character list. You will not see any character in the box but not to worry, just keep typing in whatever text you want to type where you see in the Replace With Text box.
Thank you!!! Do you have any idea why this works?? Seems like such a simple feature and Revit is making us go through hoops to find it..
