Why can't I attach a lighting pendant family to the ceiling in Revit?

Could you post the family so we can check it?

It may not be set up correctly to search for ceilings/work planes.
It could be that the ceiling isn't visible due to the range of views.
It could be that there isn't a ceiling.

It is a ceiling based family...ie: it needs a ceiling element in that view for you to be able to place it

• Make sure you are on a ceiling plan
• Make sure you have placed a ceiling element
• Make sure that the ceiling element (ie: the host) is visibile in the view

You may also place the fixture in 3D view if that makes your life any easier, then align them in a ceiling plan
