Where does Autodesk family loads end up going?

I've gone to "load Autodesk family" and found items I need, (ex: gusset plates and connectors) When I click Load the window disappears. Where did the content go? When I have loaded Anchor bolts, nuts and dimension lumber, a list has appeared so I can choose which ones I want. I then open my components on the Annotate tab and the items are then in my drop down list in the properties window.  In many cases though, such as the gusset plates, I don't find them anywhere. I'm not sure where to go and find them.

Also, I have noticed in many training videos I have watched that they have a list that pops up that they load items from in a category of families. Where are the getting those from? I'm just not seeing where that is. I must be missing something. attached is a screenshot of what I get when I select "load family" on the insert tab or File>open> family.

sorry for the long question.

When a list appears that indicates the family is using a Type Catalog. Not all families do. The family should be among the families in the category the family belongs in the Project Browser's Families section. If you use Component (Place a Component) it is often the family offered to use since you just loaded it. If it isn't a 3D family, a detail component instead, then use Detail Component instead.
