When I go to edit a view template and click on the title of View template, the window to select view template shows up but the template I want to edit is not selected. I have to manually search for it. I t problematic because in our projects we use alot ( lets say 200) of view templates. When I have to change something in multiple view templates, this simple task takes me a lot of time. Is there a way to have the view template already selected when the window pops up? It should be set by default in Revit. Such things make impossible to achieve the 'flow state' when working with revit.
Any help appreciated.

I'm not sure that I'm following your problem. How should Revit know which template you wish to edit?
If you go to a view with a template then the relevant VT is there to edit - is this nor an easier route?
When the View I'm currently editing has View Template applied, when I click on the view template for example "Ground floor" it should be pretty obvious I want to edit Ground floor view template and not some other one
Mine does that - I have never had to select the template. The default one is the current one.
Is the view template that is applied to the view of the correct categorie or have you applied for example a RCP view template to a floor plan?

This is the default behavior when you click on the view template in the properties window except if a view template for a different type of view is applied to the view.
If you are accessing view templates from the ribbon, you have to browse to the desired view template.
I am having this same problem, but have never seen it before. It would be great if someone found a solution.
My suggestion above was selected as the solution.
